Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Mizoram’s first broad gauge railway line, Bairabi-Sairang, on Sept 13, 2025 – 172 years after Indian Railways began!

With four new railway stations, the project cost Rs 8,071 crore, and passes through steep hills, deep gorges, and dense forests, with 48 tunnels en route, and over 150 bridges.

Mr. Modi, while launching projects worth ₹9,000 crore in Mizoram, addressed a public rally virtually from Lengpui Airport near Aizawl as he could not reach the venue, Lammual Ground in the heart of the city, due to heavy rain.
