DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01:Guwahati – Shillong(120 kms / 2 hrs)                    
Arrive at Guwahati airport. On arrival meet your guide at the airport and we shall head out towards explore Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya.
En-route we will stop at Umaim Lake to capture the view. In the evening take a stroll around Police Bazaar Area – Shillong’s prime location. Overnight stay


Day 02:
Shillong                                                                         
After breakfast we shall visit the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a revered grove where centuries-old religious traditions are still observed by the local Khasi community.
Next, stop by Elephant Falls, a three-tiered cascade named during the British era.
Then, head to Laitlum Canyons, a less-explored destination in the East Khasi Hills offering stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
If time permits in the late afternoon, visit a Traditional Archery Ground to witness the local sport of Siat Khnam, a unique blend of skill, tradition, and community spirit.
Overnight stay at Shillong.

 

Day 03:Shillong – day trip to Mawllynong & Dawki(90 kms / 3 hrs)              
Nestled in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, Mawlynnong is often referred to as “God’s Own Garden” for its remarkable cleanliness and natural beauty.
In terms of local sightseeing, Mawlynnong is famous for its living root bridges,  particularly the Riwai Root Bridge, sky view point ,  including the Bangladesh plains.

Later visit Dawki, the Bangladesh Border (Tamabil Border from Bangladesh side). Main attraction is the Umgot river with crystal clear water. You can enjoy along boat ride there (boating is subjected to river conditions) .

 

Day 04:Shillong – Tezpur (220 kms / 4 hrs)                                                              
Head towards Tezpur – a city with Lush green tea gardens, picturesque landscapes and endless paddy fields framed by the snow-clad Himalayas.
In the afternoon, you may join an insightful tea tour within the estate. Subject to the availability of an expert, the tour includes a guided walk through the tea gardens.
For those interested in culinary experiences, a cooking class can also be arranged in the evening, featuring local Assamese and tea garden-style cuisine.
Evening, enjoy a cultural evening with a performance of Jhumar, the traditional dance of the tea tribe communities.

 

Day 05:Tezpur – Ziro(270 kms / 4 hrs)                                                      
Get set for a drive Ziro is known as the Sequestered Paradise of the state locate at 1500 meters. Ziro has hills that are beautifully covered with bamboo and pine trees, surrounded with paddy fields. The town is home to a very friendly tribal group known as the Apatani tribe.

 

Day 06:Ziro
To know more about the inhabitants we shall spend the day visiting Apatani villages as Hong, Dutta & Hari. In these villages, we shall see the houses of Apatani adjoining each other also interact with the locals and especially with the tattooed elder who still leave a very much traditional life. Later visit the Apatani farms. We shall also visit the local market. Later visit to the local market can be informative about knowing more about Apatani culture, customs, eating habits, attires and ornaments. Also visit the local winery. Overnight at Ziro.

 

Day 07: Ziro – Dibrugarh(280 kms / 5 hrs)                                                       
After breakfast check out from hotel and head towards Dibrugarh the historic and tea capital – Dibrugarh. If time permits, we will explore the local market of the town. Overnight stay

 

Day 08:Dibrugarh – Day trip to Majuli(115 kms / 2 hrs)                  
Cross the Brahmaputra River to reach the Majuli – assumed to the largest river Island in world, which also stands to the cultural capital of Assam ever since 16th century.
Explore the island by visiting the Anuati sattras (monasteries) & Uttar – Kamalabari sattras  (monasteries). Interact with the monks and visit monk’s quarter. We shall also visit Mishing tribal village a major inhabitant of the island followed by a visit to pottery making village and mask making village. Overnight stay in Dibrugarh.

 

Day 09:Dibrugarh – Kaziranga National Park(240 kms / 4 hrs)                     
Check out from the hotel and embark on a scenic drive towards Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. Overnight stay.

 

Day 10:Kaziranga National Park                                                   
Post breakfast, we shall go for a round of jeep safari the Eastern range of the park. Post lunch go for jeep safari in the Western range of the park.

 

Day 11:Kaziranga National Park                                                                            
Post breakfast, we shall go for a round of jeep safari the Burapahar range of the park. Post lunch go for jeep safari in the Central range of the park.

 

Day 12:Kaziranga National Park – Kohima(220 kms / 4 hrs)                                 
After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Kohima. Enroute explore the bustling markets of Dimapur . Overnight stay

 

Day 13:Kohima                                                                                   
This morning we take a tour of Kohima, where we will be visiting the 2nd World War Cemetery and Kohima State Museum(Closed on Monday and government holidays or may remain close without any prior information)

Khonoma located at a distance of 20 kms / 1 hrs from Kohima which is the first green village of the Nagaland. Khonoma is known for its rich flora and fauna and a stands to important for its unique form of agriculture.

Touphema – a little village of the native Angami tribe located around 40 kms from Kohima which have still have preserved their ancient tribal traditions and hence is has been declared as Tourist Village by the state government.

A recently refurbished museum inside the village houses an extensive ethnographic collection including wood carvings, musical instruments, textiles, handicrafts traditional artefacts, jewellery and archaeological finds. Apart the above, guest can also take a guided walk in the near by villages.
Your overnight stay will in Kohima.

 

Day 14:Kohima – Dimapur(70 kms / 2 hrs)                                                    
After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Dimapur airport to board flight for your onward journey.
